Who Are We?
As of 1997, a small group of quilters had been meeting on the west side of the Twin Cities in Minnesota for a number
of years. There had been no larger guild to serve the west and northwest regions of the Twin Cities, so these women
felt it was about time there was. The Plymouth City Hall was engaged as the first meeting location and the word went
out. The first meeting was held in August of 1997, and turn-out surpassed all expectations.
Attendance and membership continued to grow, until now we have over two hundred members. We've outgrown three meeting
places. We've begun traditions of annual events, including a New Year's resolution quilt.
What Do We Do?
- Lectures and Presentations - speakers explore all the many dimensions of this tradition and art.
- Birthday Club - birthday celebrants bring fat quarters, and members purchase chances to win them.
- Show and Share - members share their completed quilts and works-in-progress. Come see our gallery of quilts
presented at meetings.
- Secret Sisters - Members can sign up to have a secret sister all
year. Send notes and small gifts to your secret sister and the
person who has you will do the same; to be revealed at the December
meeting.
Community Service is a long-standing part of the quilting
tradition in America. Our guild currently concentrates on making lap
quilts for people in wheelchairs and in nursing homes. Quilts
collected at meetings during the year are distributed typically in
the West Metro area.
Almost since the beginning of the guild, we have had a Block of the Month exchange.
Meetings
WOW meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 P.M. Our current meeting location is Medina Entertainment
Center. From Highway 494, take Highway 55 west for 4 miles. Medina Entertainment Center is on the right hand side of
the highway.
